Church Values

The Church Audit references values as they pertain to a church’s desired mission. The following are definitions of the seven values respondents are asked to rank.

MISSION: These values generally reflect the calling of your church.

  1. Legacy/Mission to Community/Partnerships: This value describes the legacy upon which your church was founded, its purpose to exist, its connection in the community, and the partnerships it makes in the community to advance its mission.
  2. Sunday Morning Services: This value describes caring for the members in the church and those who visit the church during its worship services. Weekly gatherings for worship, teaching, and fellowship are an important aspect of what it means as the “church gathered.”
  3.

BUSINESS: These values generally reflect the stewardship of your church assets.

  4. Long-term Financial Stability: As stewards of God’s provision of the assets of your church this value is to ensure that your church has the financial capacity to continue its mission into the foreseeable future. Liquidating your church’s assets or closing the church is to be avoided.
  5. Property Ownership: As stewards of God’s specific provision of the real estate assets of your church continued ownership, maintenance, and management of church property is important.
  6.

ORGANIZATIONAL: These values generally reflect the church management team and the importance of the people who are needed to support the day-to-day functions of the church.

  7. Long-term People Needs: This value reflects the degree of permanence of leadership, energy level of core leaders, adaptive change characteristics modeled by leaders, and sensitivity to differences in generations.
  8. Immediate People Needs: This value reflects the degree to which immediate functions of the church aren’t being met and need attention soon. E.g., property maintenance, administrative and communication activities, core leader engagement.
  9.

    RISK AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP:

  10. Risk and Entrepreneurship: This value describes the importance of innovation and continually being open to change, as God is not static and ever-moving.
